We have so much to cover in this episode of the Fort Wayne News! We start with discussing the Google Data Center acquiring more protected wetlands to grow their operations here in Fort Wayne. We cover the stipulations, pros, and cons of this controversial decision.

The Homeless Shelter ARC in downtown Fort Wayne was voted down 5-3 by Fort Wayne's City Council. Ultimately this decision came down to lack of trust and a plan with those pushing for $2.75 million to make it happen.

Fort Wayne City Council also decided to end the Flock camera program. Another controversial topic that had civil liberty and safety on the forefront.

The Pufferbelly Bridge, AKA the Vann Family Bridge, as paused construction due to lack of required funding. Despite Jim Vann and the Vann Faimly Foundation pledging $5 milllion, the projects bids came in $2.5 million over budget.

A new neighborhood is coming to SE Fort Wayne. Victory Gardens will soon begin a $24 million investment in an area that's been strongly pushing for new housing.

The new roundabout is open at Main St and Leesburg Rd. This will help provide more access to downtown Fort Wayne and keep the flow of traffic moving. There is also a mural dedicated to wounded veterans in the center. So all around this seems like a great addition to the area.

The Fort Wayne Football club has found itself involved in controversy [...]

The Fort Wayne Football club has found itself involved in controversy early in its existence. Firearm manufacturer Smith & Wesson has sued the franchise for logo infringement. They claim the crest of FWFC will cause consumer confusion due to its resemblance to the Smith & Wesson logo. Mark Music, founder and owner of the club, has denied any wrongdoing. We will see where this one leads.

The city of Huntington has announced a new park coming to the downtown area along the banks of the Little River. This should help the downtown area's push to attract visitors and businesses.

The Electric Works campus has big news, announcing a new anchor tenant. Vera Bradley will be moving it's headquarters from Roanoke to the downtown area's campus, which should be a big boost to the local businesses there. EW also announced a new event management company. Four-Thirty Venue Group will be the new head of event planning for the campus. This launches a new phase and chapter for the project.

City of Fort Wayne officials have launched their new project. "MAKE IT DOWNTOWN: A Plan for Fort Wayne's Next Decade" is an opportunity for local residents to weigh in and have their voices heard, as city officials plan how we are moving forward with our growing and thriving downtown revitalization.

The City also is looking to bring a new public restroom to downtown as well, but after it was filed as a "bathroom for the homeless" there has been some push back on the $280,000 project.

Lastly, North Side High School has fired their principal and head football coach after just one game. Little information is available, but Stephanie Leslie will be the new interim principal and local football star Jaylon Smith will take the reins as the head football coach. We will bring you more details as they are made public.

Fort Wayne Needs a $10 MILLION DOLLAR Bail Out?! Plus the Fort Wayne News!

You read that right... Fort Wayne is in need of a $10,000,000 bail [...]

You read that right... Fort Wayne is in need of a $10,000,000 bail out! Fort Wayne has been self insured for many years now. Unfortunately, for the first time, not enough funds were budgeted for the required expense.

On a positive note, The Pufferbelly Trail is being extended on Union Chapel Rd and will connect surrounding neighborhoods to the local schools! This is a huge benefit to the area.

The City recently completed a new mural in the East Central neighborhood. The artwork is intended to honor the area's history as it continues to transform.

The Shoaff Park playground renovation is done! My favorite park just got a facelift. I look forward to taking my children.

The City continues to deal with water main breaks, as the total number of breaks is more than twice what City Utilities had planned for. The aging system is currently under repair and will take many years to upgrade.

The 4th of July fireworks display was moved form the AEP Building to Citizen's Square garage due to Falcon Eggs being at the top of AEP. City officials did not want to disturb the animals, so the display was moved.

Lastly, Parkview Field announced an expansion of Pediatric services by continuing an existing partnership with Cincinnati Children's Hospital. This is wonderful news for the area and could save lives!
